An application photo can have separate rules for dimensions, format and file size. Meet each requirement independently.
Read the current instructions
Use the receiving authority’s official requirements for pixel dimensions, aspect ratio, background, head position and file size. Do not assume one exam or passport setting applies to every application. Our passport workspace has editable dimensions and does not guarantee acceptance.
Crop before resizing
Choose a crop that follows the required composition. Cropping changes which part of the original remains; resizing changes the number of pixels. Avoid stretching a face by unlocking the aspect ratio unless the source is already composed for the target shape.
Export in the accepted format
Use JPEG when required and choose a suitable background for transparency. Lower the quality gradually if a file exceeds the limit. A tiny file that loses facial detail may still be rejected even when its byte size is correct.
Check the downloaded file
Confirm exact dimensions and size, inspect the face at full resolution and open the output once before uploading. Keep the original photograph so you can create a different compliant version later.
